Australian citizens to discuss migrant levels

An event discussing Australia's overseas migrant levels is to take place at the end of November.

Australian citizens are being invited to discuss the country's overseas migrant levels at an event in the Gold Coast.

Due to be held at the Crowne Plaza in Surfers Paradise, the 15th Biennial Australian Population Association (APA) Conference will take place from Tuesday 30th November to Friday 3rd December.

"The Australian Population Association invites you to join some of Australia's principal demographic thinkers and contribute to the debate," a statement from the event's organisers reads.

Over the course of the four days, the event will feature eminent keynote speakers, panel discussions and a special presentation from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

On the 30th, Dr Don Rowland, professor at the Australian National University is to give a lecture titled Prospects for Ageing Societies.

Earlier this month, Virgin boss Richard Branson told the Sunday Telegraph that Australia would benefit from having more skilled migrants as it covers such a large land mass.
