The number of Australian property owners carrying out repairs on their homes has increased of late, according to Master Builders Queensland.
Paul Bidwell, director of housing at the organisation, told API Magazine that there was a long pause in the market, but people are once again starting to seek the services of trades-people.
"There seems to be a level of uncertainty in the community, but it's interesting because unemployment is solid, interest rates seem stable - not high or too restrictive - and we still have population growth," said Mr Bidwell.
He went on to say that landlords should take the opportunity to renovate their properties while the market is quiet as trades-people are competing for jobs and will offer good prices for valuable work.
Earlier this week, Master Builders fundraising and community support arm, the Master Builders Foundation, announced it had donated a $12,000 (£7,886) self-contained water pressure unit to the Mackay Regional Council to help with the natural disaster clean-up.
