Tourism Australia to increase interest from US

Tourism Australia is attending the Americas Meeting and Events Exhibition with the aim of getting more people from the US to visit the country.
Tourism Australia is aiming to drum up some more business from the US at the Americas Meeting and Events Exhibition.

This event began yesterday (June 21st) in Baltimore, Maryland, and ends tomorrow.

According to a statement from Tourism Australia, 11 partners are joining it at the event to "showcase Australia's energy, enthusiasm and options for business meetings, incentive travel, conferences and events".

It goes on to say that, in 2010, total business event arrivals increased by 19 per cent, while convention and conference arrivals from the US increased by 23 per cent.

Also, business arrivals from Canada increased by 21 per cent in 2010.

In the first four months of this year, business arrivals in Australia from the US increased by nine per cent.

Last month, Propell National Valuers' National Visitor Survey revealed that the number of people visiting Western Australia increased by 15.6 per cent last year to 1,095,000.
