A new survey from HSBC has suggested Australia is one of the friendliest places for ex-pats looking to relocate, suggesting that investing in Australian property could be a shrewd move as the country remains popular with emigrants.
HSBC surveyed 5,339 expatriates in nearly 100 countries between May and July 2012, with Forbes then taking the data to assess which places came out on top.
The news provider placed Australia second on its list of friendliest countries, with benefits including its largely Anglophone population.
An impressive 75 per cent of Australian ex-pats said they intended to remain in the country indefinitely.
Larin Sullivan, a filmmaker who relocated to Sydney and Melbourne from New York City in early 2012, said: "The best thing here is the lifestyle - cleaner air and water, better transport, nationalised health schemes, more time for activities like travel and great food."
PRDnationwide recently pinpointed the Gold Coast as one part of Australia likely to see property development over the coming years.
