Britons dreaming of investing in Australian property still stand a "good chance" of getting a visa, despite changes made by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
Lisa Valentine, writing for EmbraceAustralia.com, said that the first thing for anyone do to is check that their occupation is on the new skilled occupations list.
"This gives you a higher chance of having your visa application processed as a priority as these are the skills that are highly sought after in Australia. Alternatively you could contact Australian employers directly and enquire as to whether they would nominate your application," she added.
Ms Valentine, told people wanting to invest in Australian property that there are still plenty of skills shortages down under, while also advising them not to give up on their dream.
Andrew Metcalfe, an immigration official, stated that new laws coming into effect from July 1st will encourage a greater focus on employers' requirements.
