According to South Australian TAFE property coordinator and expert Peter Koulizos, changes to the visa requirements for international students have helped to entice more young, able individuals to Australia and this is pushing up demand for student property.
This is having the dual effect of helping to stabilise - and even increase - property prices in university towns, as demand for property is increasing, Australian Property Investor reports.
"This is a very important sector for Australia economically, for our education outcomes and for our long-term strategic foreign policy concerns," commented immigration minister Chris Bowen.
Meanwhile, the Real Estate Institute of Australia also recently welcomed government comments regarding the abolition of state-based real estate stamp duty, claiming this would go a long way towards boosting housing turnover and reducing the cost of moving home for Australians.
