Two-thirds of recent migrants of Australia were employed in November 2010, recent research has revealed.
A report from the Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS) also shows that some 63 per cent of the country's temporary residents were in employment last November.
"Recent migrants from main English-speaking countries were more likely to be employed than those born in other countries," a statement from the ABS reveals.
Some 81 per cent of recent migrants from English-speaking countries were in employment, compared to 64 per cent of those who had come from other countries.
About ten per cent of recent migrants who were in employment in Australia in November had their first job arranged before they arrived in the country, the report reveals.
A further 43 per cent spent three months or less looking for their first job.
Earlier this month, the ABS's Wage Price Index showed that people employed in jobs in Australia enjoyed an increase in their wages in the first three months of the year.
